Yarn Club Archive - 2023
These colourways were all originally created exclusively for the 2023 monthly yarn clubs, the 'Guilty Pleasure Movie Club' and the 'Literary Yarn Travel Club'. While not currently on sale, I've left them here for inspiration!
Xmas: The Snow Queen's Palace
A delicately frosty skein of white blushed with icy blue and soft grey, accompanied by a mauve miniskein to symbolise Gerda. Kai's heart frozen in glass waits for rescue.
This cult comedy-horror inspired a grungy mix of dark Christmas colours, accompanied by a festive green mini. A postcard from 'Cronins Books & Bits' completed the set.
Oct: Bram Stoker's Dracula
As unashamedly gothic as my teenage bedroom, we have a moody purple and grey main skein with a blood red mini. An adorable little bat stitch marker and a wax seal by Gunpowder & Ink (Etsy) completed the set.
Oct: The Shining
Taking inspiration from the iconic carpet and bathroom decor. Sticker by Anji King via Etsy
Down the rabbit hole with bright, floral colours and a magnet by 'Gifts From Alice' (Etsy). Curiouser and curiouser!
Deep midnight blue with a flash of UV reactive green as our favourite giant lizard stomps the night streets of Manhattan. 'Mogzilla' magnet from Katie Ruby (Etsy)
Aug: Batman & Robin (1998)
Deep magenta fading into peacock blue with an old school Batman patch. Kapow!
Inspired by the desert planet of Frank Herbert's 'Dune'. Card by Fictional Land Travels on Etsy
July: Point Break
Surf's up in sea blue with a sunshine yellow mini, adorably tiny surfboard and inspirational Kee-ah-noo
July: Ratty's Riverbank
We went messing about in boats for this one, and even received an invitation to Toad Hall
It's a helluva day at sea!
Inspired by HG Wells' sci-fi classic, we had a martian red main skein and a death-ray green mini. Extras courtesy of Jack Animo and Jeff Wayne
May: My Girl
Responsible for a generation of teenage trauma! It's time to fogive the bees with seed papers from Keegle Designs
May: The Emerald City
As imagined by L. Frank Baum, the yellow brick road flashes through emerald green. We couldn't visit without our regulation tinted glasses
This yarn used the symbolic colours of medieval heraldry to represent Arthur, Lancelot and his knights
April: From Dusk Til Dawn
A skein of two halves, just like the movie, this yarn glowed under black light and came with some vampiric stitch markers
March: 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea
A deep-sea steampunk delight in bronze and abyssal green, with some squiddy additions. Washi tape by @artbymr
March: Dirty Dancing
I carried a watermelon? Yup, and now you can smell like one too with this lush soy melt from Whitcliffe Aromas
Is this the first time yarn has been inspired by sandworms? Surely not! Desert tones plus a souvenir from Walter Chang's
Inspired by the forests and coves of JM Barrie's fantasy land. Safely tucked within were two kisses - an acorn and a thimble. Mwah!
Jan: Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves
I was delighted to find these genuine 90's trading cards to accompany this woodland green yarn
We stepped through the wardrobe to the snowy land of Narnia for the first club of the year, wearing a necklace from Little Charm Co.
